Job Description
Summary: Lays out, builds, test, troubleshoot, and repairs equipment components by performing following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Calculates wire and conduit sizes
• Be proficient in power distribution designs
• Install conduit, electrical equipment and devices to meet local, state, and federal requirements.
• Perform M.S.H.A Grounding and resistance checks and the necessary documentation required.
• Be proficient in electric shop equipment documentation and tracking procedures.
• Must be able to trouble shoot and install all basic electrical controls without supervision.
• Rebuild mechanical electrical devices including electric motors not requiring rewinding
• Hard wire switch house and control houses from drawings.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Trains Electrical Helper or other less experienced employees on various tasks in the Electric Shop, safe work practices, environmental requirements, code requirements, and other information related to the Electric Shop.
• Reviews carefully the work of the Electrical Helper explaining any modifications required in the work.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the Knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Basic electrical formulas
• Thoroughly understands safe operations of all equipment used by Electric Shop employees.
• Able to understand electrical prints.
• Has good understanding of safety, health, and environmental requirements.
• Understands all testing procedures required to perform job tasks including any local, state, or federal requirements.
• Any formal training, education, licensed certification a plus, but not required.
